Preparing Your Shop Now For The Holidays

It really is never too early to prepare for the upcoming holidays. But for most "newbie" shops, it's better to start right now because most shops get noticed during the holiday season. Customers are searching for you this time of year! If you haven't been busy before, there's a huge chance you will get a rush this year.

Are you ready? Most likely not yet. Here are some things that I will have to do THIS month in order to get somewhat ready for the season. It's better to prepare slowly instead of doing it all in the month of November, or worse, December. Nothing is worst than failing because you procrastinated.

  • Research holiday deadlines for my shop. What dates will make most sense for me? Remember the processing time, the delayed shipping time (because of the holidays), and what is better off guaranteed to get to the customer. Domestic and international.
  • Prepare to rephotograph the most popular items if not all of your products with some holiday decor around them. This just an option of course but will catch more viewers to your shop. Draw up some designs, play around, see what you like best.
  • Inventory needs!!!! Most important. What do you have in stock now? Will you be ready for the holidays with what you have? Most likely not. Start slow, gather up materials weekly until December.
  • Shipping and packaging. You may not want to buy a huge order right now of shipping products but like above, start slow. Amazon is great with low prices for bulk orders of bubble mailers!
  • How's your about page? Your shop policies? Are they updated to your liking? Why is this important? The holidays are famous for unhappy customers that don't get enough info. Make sure you give them enough info.
  • Set your holiday goal. Be reasonable yet strive for success. How will you achieve your goal? Create your own steps for Christmas success. You know your shop better then I do.

There are so many more things you could do in the month of September to prepare for the holidays but don't over work yourself. It's better to be prepared but you still have a little time. Start now and enjoy a successful holiday season! You will be glad you did this.
